NOW is pleased to announce the next addition in the Millennium series – NOW – Millennium 2008-2009 – out September 27th! 30 tracks across 2LP’s, pressed in a Gorgeous Gold and a White Vinyl, showcasing some of the most iconic sounds of the noughties!
LP1 Side A kicks off with a run of pop gold, Take That’s triumphant #1 ‘Greatest Day’, the band’s 11th #1 single, starts the count for #1’s on this album. Up next is Girls Aloud’s BRIT Award winning homage to the sounds of the 60s, ‘The Promise’, another UK #1. Britney leads a string of fabulous pop hits with the infectious ‘Womanizer’ before P!nk’s #1 ‘So What’ and Kylie Minogue’s ‘Wow’. 2008 was a great year for new and breaking acts; Katy Perry announced herself to the world with the hit ‘I Kissed a Girl’, while The Saturday’s second single ‘Up’ shattered the high expectations set by their debut single. Closing off LP1 Side A is X-Factor superstar Leona Lewis’ powerful cover of Snow Patrol’s ‘Run’.
LP1 Side B opens with Coldplay’s epic ‘Viva La Vida’ followed by The Killers’ indie dancefloor chart-topper ‘Human’. Oasis’ psychedelia-infused alt rock track ‘The Shock Of The Lightning’ is followed by Snow Patrol’s top 10 single ‘Take Back The City’ and Radiohead’s ‘Nude’. Duffy’s top 5 single ‘Warwick Avenue’ spent a combined 35 weeks in the UK charts and leads us into this side’s closer: Alexandra Burke’s debut UK #1, Xmas #1 and the best-selling single of 2008: ‘Hallelujah’.
LP2 Side A and our celebration of 2009 opens with the Black Eyed Peas’ global hit ‘I Gotta Feeling’. This UK and US #1 is followed by a slew of similarly huge floor fillers including David Guetta and Kelly Rowland’s ‘When Love Takes Over’ and another UK and US #1: Flo Rida featuring Kesha’s ‘Right Round’. Ciara and Justin Timberlake’s ‘Love Sex Magic’ sets up a run of fabulous pop smashes with The Pussycat Dolls alongside A.R. Rahman (Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)’), Cheryl Cole’s debut #1 single ‘Fight For This Love’, Miley Cyrus’ ‘Party In The USA’, and this side’s closer, Kelly Clarkson’s UK #1: ‘My Life Would Suck Without You’.
LP2 Side B starts with Florence + The Machine’s debut top 20 hit ‘Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)’ followed by Lily Allen’s #1 single, ‘The Fear’. Next up are a couple of synth pop smashes with La Roux’s #1 ‘Bulletproof’ and the Pet Shop Boys’ ‘Love Etc.’, the lead single from their tenth album ‘Yes’’. Robbie Williams continued his stellar chart run with ‘Bodies’ before this side and the 2LP’s closer; James Morrison featuring Nelly Furtado on their enduring contemporary classic ‘Broken Strings’.
